WOmen's club membership
The Fratellanza Women’s Social Club is comprised of individuals of both Italian and non-Italian heritage all of whom must meet membership qualifications, submit an application, and interview during the membership drives. The Fratellanza Women’s Social Club is one of the largest social clubs in America founded by Italian pioneers for the purpose of providing a social center for themselves, their families, and their guests.
Becoming a Member
Each member adds to the prosperity of the club with her ideas, involvement, and social interaction with each other. By coming a member, it is expected to attend and help out with events, donate raffle prizes, attend and participate in members business meetings once a month, etc. By getting and staying involved, you maintain and unsure the success of our Club.
Requirements:
- Applicant must be 18 years of age.
- Applicant must be of Italian descent (or a non-Italian women married to a Fratellanza Men’s Club member).
- Applicant must be sponsored by two Fratellanza Women’s club member in good standing.
Sponsors will share equal responsibility for the new member’s participation in the club.
Once you become a member, it is important that you stay active in the club. Here is a list if activities and events, but not limited to this only:
- Members Meetings: Held every first Tuesday of every month. Food is prepared by the men’s club. However, twice a year a pot-luck style “Spuntino” is expected by the members.
- Birthday Dinners: Held every other month – January (December and January Birthdays), March (February and March Birthdays), May (April and May Birthdays), July (June and July Birthdays), September (August and September Birthdays), and November (October and November Birthdays).
- Mother’s Day Dinner: Held the Tuesday prior to the May Business Meeting.
- Volunteering: Every event has an opportunity to volunteer at various capacities, from Chairing the event, setup and cleanup, serving, hosting, baking, and donating raffle prizes, etc.
- Attend Events: Regular events such as bunco, scholarship tea fundraiser, holiday events, bake sales, boutiques, including day trips, extended trips and cruises are just an example of the many activities and events happening every year.
- Scholarship Fund: Scholarships are given out yearly to those students that apply during their senior year. A fund is set aside from the donations contributed from the various activities. See the separate section on Scholarships – here. [INSERT LINK].
- Anniversary Dinner & Dance: This annual and very special event occurs every March.
- Holiday Members Dinner & Event: Held every December and is a fun dinner and sing along to 12 Days of Christmas.
- Children’s Christmas Party: Held every December in which the children and grandchildren of members up to the age of 12 may attend the party, have lunch, and receive a gift from Santa. Members must register for attendance.
- Bocci (League and Tournaments): Various tournaments are held by the Club and a regular league occurs on Wednesday evenings during the season.
- Club Events Sponsored by the Men’s Club: The men’s club has their own events and monthly family dinners; the Women’s Club members are welcome to attend those as well. There are also events that the Women’s Club Co-Sponsors with the Men’s Club.
Member’s Dues
It is the responsibility of the members to pay for their dues annually. Dues are due by January 1 each year.
A member will be delinquent if dues are NOT paid by February 1, 2025 and will be charged a $20 penalty fee along with the annual dues. If a member fails to pay dues and the penalty fee by March 1, 2025, it will be assumed that the member is no longer interested in the Club, and shall be automatically dropped from the membership.
Membership Drive
Typically, the membership drive is approximately every two years, but is subject to change. The potential members must be sponsored by two active members, complete and submit an application, which also includes a short essay on your heritage and why you would like to join the Club.
