Happy Spring, to all of you! Our April membership meeting covered an ambitious agenda. Thank you to all members who attended. One of my personal highlights was the report on the imminent completion of the women’s bathroom. Grazie mille to the imagineers who started this project a year ago: Roland Lazzarotto, Rico DeBenedetti, Dave Ceccanti and to Russel Carrel, who joined the group last summer and who contributed hugely to the project’s completion. Many workers and crews showed up in the past year to help. We wholeheartedly appreciate everyone’s time, attention and skillset to getting this project done. We love our new bathroom!!!
In March the men and women of the club enjoyed an anniversary celebration. The report for this event has been postponed to our May meeting when our chairperson, Renee Howley will present her report. Thank you to Renee, the kitchen crew, set-up staff, the wait staff, ticket sellers, bartenders and musicians who contributed to a fun and festive evening.
So much is happening at the Fratellanza! It’s a hub of activity! Italian lessons are happening; a once-a-month Italian movie night is commencing; 13 prospective FWSC members will be interviewed by the Board on April 25th; the women’s board is planning a surprise “members-only” buffet dinner for our Tuesday, May 7th membership meeting and Arlene Howell is chairing the May 21st Birthday dinner. (Be sure to get your reservations into Loretta Iacobitti by Friday, May 3rdfor the membership dinner and Friday, May 17th for the birthday dinner.) Also stay tuned for the upcoming June Bunco, August Tea and September Festa. Be sure to check out the event flyers from Lisa. And, of course, remember to volunteer and help out for any/all of the above events. Many hands make lighter work, as my Nonna used to say.
Lisa Borreani will be sending out an updated calendar for the FWSC. There had been a misprint on the date of the Festa. The correct date is Saturday, September 7th, the Saturday after Labor Day.
And lastly, the Board has been very busy responding to members’ thoughtful suggestions. For now, the Board has reconsidered the dinner price for non-members attending a women’s dinner. Both members and non-members will pay $30. In addition, two proposed amendments to the Bylaws were introduced. The second reading will be at the May business meeting with the third reading and voting at the June business meeting. We hope to see you there.
Continue to enjoy your family, friends and this beautiful weather!
Ci vediamo presto! Anne Martorello
